Experience l’Acadie! through Altered Art

Join storyteller and local Acadian artist Luanna Dugas for a day filled with adventure! You will travel through time learning how the Acadians survived the long Canadian winters all while creating a beautiful canvas that you get to take home at the end of the day! The canvas of three houses will depict the colorful houses that you will find as you travel through Acadian communities in New Brunswick.

Instructor: Luanna Dugas
With the Dugas family being one of the first to return to the Maritimes after Le Grand Dérangement in 1763, Luanna’s proud Acadian roots shine through her unique creations and crafting classes, which help to fund her humanitarian work locally and abroad.

From dog-eared sheet music to rusty doorknobs, Luanna scours thrift stores, auctions, yard sales, old barns and junkyards to salvage prized bygone era mementos that inspire their ‘upcycled’ creations. Whether it’s license plate journals or shotgun shell checkerboard games, Altered Eco’s funky gifts epitomize New Brunswick’s rustic charm and offbeat sense of humour.
