Metal Jewellery for Beginners

This class is designed for the beginner. In a weekend, Sarah Smith Stewart will help you will learn basic jewellery skills such as; texturing, cutting, drilling, filing, forming, soldering, riveting, sanding and polishing. After two days in the studio, you will bring home 3 pendants (or earrings as time/materials allow) and a sterling band ring! Materials fee includes copper, brass and/or bronze for the pendants and sterling silver for the ring. Students may want to bring an apron.

Sarah began selling beads, supplies and custom jewellery in 2002 at local markets in New Brunswick. She has taught jewellery-making to children and adults from age 4 to 94! In 2006, she opened her store, The Beadnik – Custom Jewellery & Beading Supplies in Fredericton and had the pleasure of opening a metalsmithing studio for the public. Though she closed the supply shop in 2014, she continues to teach metals in the studio and travel to schools, community groups and more to teach the joy of creating jewellery.
