edVentures Workshop
Pottery for Beginners

If you like surprises, then you will love Raku. Each time you create a piece of artwork there’s no way to predict the look before it’s finished. In this one-day workshop with ceramist Chris Doiron, you will learn the techniques of glazing and firing on pre-made vessels, as well as witness the types of problems that may arise. See how combustible materials aid in the process of your creation. Make gifts for family & friends and be sure no two people will get the same product.

Instructor: Chris Doiron
Chris Doiron holds a Diploma in Fine Craft – Ceramics, from the New Brunswick College of Craft and Design and is building his career as a ceramic artist, working in both stoneware and raku temperatures. Moving to rural New Brunswick ignited his deep-rooted appreciation of nature’s colors and textures, fueling his fervor for wood-firing, with its unique qualities and unpredictable results. Chris is a juried member of the New Brunswick Crafts Council, an Instructor for the City of Fredericton’s edVentures program, and most recently, was awarded a creation grant from the New Brunswick Arts Board, which will enable him to pursue his research in working with local river clays.
