Weave a Garlic and Onion Keeper Basket

Note: Registration is now closed

Using round reed, instructor Lisa Fullarton will guide participants in creating a basket to store garlic or onions that allows air to circulate around the product to keep it fresh longer. You’ll complete one basket in this half-day class and take home a kit to make another. The baskets are approximately 4" tall, not including the handle. You’ll find that these little baskets are multi-purpose and can be used to store or hang more than garlic or onions.

Instructor: Lisa Fullarton
Lisa began rediscovering artistic expression in 2011, when she opened Black Butterfly Studio with Black & White Mandalas and Zentangle inspired artwork. She sold work and taught classes locally until returning to school. Graduating in 2015 from the NB College of Craft and Design’s Aboriginal Visual Arts Program, she began to call on recently discovered family roots with a strong sense of spirituality and creativity blended with a passion for colour and love of traditional work. The result is one-of-a-kind pieces that are from her heart with a focus on a love of "visual texture" in tactile 3D work, such as carving and basketry.

She enjoys creating basketry products that may serve a practical purpose and represent fusion of function and fabulous design. Recently becoming a juried member of the New Brunswick Crafts Council has given her more opportunities to share what she has learned and experienced with others through teaching workshops, demonstrations, and selling her products.
